Gregorio’s Market

is located in Mays Landing, NJ and hosts a brand new open mic on Wednesdays. The address for Gregorio’s is 901 Boulevard Route 50 Mays Landing 08330. The open mic starts at 6:30pm. It is hosted by Sarah Bucknam.

Like the name implies, it’s a market. It has fresh produce and food for sale. But the open mic is held in the newly constructed cafe, located off to the side of the store. It is a cafe and bakery, so feel free to pick up some pastries.

The corner for the open mic is cozy but not inhibiting. The PA system is brand new and has 2 quarter-inch jack inputs for a mic and guitar, or whichever combination of the two works best for you.

The open mic is on Wednesdays starting at 6:30pm

I went on the very first night and it was packed. I was told by an employee that they wore signs that said:

“Ask me about Wednesday night“

All week long. It must have worked, because people came out and filled the place up. As a side note, the coffee was very good!

There is seating on the inside for drinking coffee and listening, and there are seats in the corridor slightly outside the open mic area. It’s good in case you want to be able to talk but still hear the performer. The outer corridor lets the sun in and is a great spot to sit and listen to music.

The mood was very loose. There’s a sign up sheet, but for the most part, everybody that wanted to play got a chance relatively quickly. Performers followed a 2-song per person rule in the beginning, and as the night progressed, the original performers came back up to perform more.

Everyone that works at Gregorio’s was very friendly and the last hour of the night was spent singing along with whoever was performing. It was a great time and is definitely going to be a great place to go on Wednesday nights!
