The Ground House In Pitman, NJ
On Wednesdays in Pitman, you can go to The Ground House on 60 South Broadway for an Open Comedy Mic. This is the first of its kind of JerseyMic, and definitely one of the more rare open mics out there. Hosted by Todd Chappelle, it starts at 7pm but signups begin at 6pm, so get there early if you’re planning on performing.
The first thing I noticed about the Ground House is the backdrop for the comedians. It’s definitely cool and you can tell the place was made with intentions of a comedy mic (hint: so it isn’t going away anytime soon)

The Ground House's stage, complete with brick walling!
The Ground House has the right feel for a comedy night. The lights are dimmed but not dark, the seating is intimate and there’s enough space on the stage for a person to walk around a little in their act. We went out to check it out and all there is to say is that it’s definitely a good time. Todd knows how long to let someone perform and surprisingly, there were a lot more comics in the area than I thought!

The poster for the comedy night. Note the dog.
Come check it out. How many free comedy nights do you go to in a month? You can do at least 1 now.
