coffeecomedy 050309 001 300x225 The Soilsacks™ Open Mic Night at Coffee.Comedy in Sea Isle City

Coffee.Comedy

Coffee.Comedy is in Sea Isle City. They’re located at 29 J.F.Kennedy Blvd. Sea Isle City, NJ 08243.

Dustin and Matt (the hosts, and the owners of The Soilsacks) run this relatively new open mic on Sundays. From 7pm-10pm, come on out for a relaxed environment. One cool thing about the Open Mic at Coffee.Comedy is the environment. There are albums all over the walls and the inside feels like an open mic stage should. The platform for performing is raised and the sound quality in Coffee.Comedy is really incredible.

The participants vary in age, but consider this a mature open mic with some really talented people. There is also some pretty tasty banana coffee to be had at Coffee.Comedy if that’s your kind of thing. It’s my kind of thing now.

Information on The Soilsacks can be found here: http://www.myspace.com/thesoilsacks

From their website:

“The Soilsacks are hereby established as a not-for-profit business entity which seeks to support the arts (creative, political, humanitarian, scientific, legal, medical, spiritual, etc.); by designing, coordinating, promoting, and/or hosting fundraising events; events that benefit other non-profit organizations and charitable causes (ie raising funds for victims of loss or theft of life, liberty, property, livelihood, medical benefits, etc).

In other words, we organize cool events and want you to be a part of them. And the money we collect either goes back into this business to fund larger events, or goes directly to a charity.”

They’re good guys and I’ve talked to them a lot. There will be more information about them in a future post, so keep checking for that.

Ending the review, there’s a final note to be made. Dustin and Matt have gone out of their way to make this a really interesting open mic. They have “song assignments”, where they pick a random line in a book and challenge the songwriters and poets to come up with an original based on the line. Also! At the end of each night, they pass out  instruments (think kazoos and maracas) and everyone freestyles some music. It’s a really good time for everybody and a fun way to close the night out.

And the perfect way to close out this post! Come on out on Sundays!
